OUR ARTISANS

We are proud to have a wonderful group of artisans with talents in different areas of knitting.
These are some of them.

 
           
           

From left to right: Ofelia, born in Cusco is an expert in hand knitting and crochet. She is also the teacher for
new knitters. Juana, is part of a whole family of intarsia knitters. Her family has been knitting “Intarsia” for
generations. Sofia specializes in Baby clothing, knitting in her spare time while she attends College. Matilde
is an expert in crochet, from hats to shawls; she is originally from Cusco. Rosita is wonderful at knitting all
types of children’s sweaters.


           



DANIEL YANARICO


originally from Puno, started his carrier as a weaver when he was 13 years old. He learned this technique
from his parents and in the same way, he taught to his children. In 2002, the Yanarico family moved to
Arequipa looking for a better market for their products. They contacted Latin Collection and started weaving
special designs in scarves, shawls, & blankets.




MARCELINO PUMA

Marcelo, was born in Cusco. When he was 18 began working as apprentice in a famous Jewelry store in
Cusco. Through the years he specialized in pre- inca designs. In 1990 he moved to Arequipa. One of his
dreams was to start his own workshop, Latin Collection is helping him with his dream. He does a wonderful
work in gold and silver jewelry
.

           


JANET

Born in Arequipa. A single
mother, raised a son who just
graduated from a dental school
in Arequipa. Janet teaches
manual arts including
knitting in a local school. She
support her son and mother
with her
knitting

 


FLORA

She is a grandma of 3 children living with her. She supports her family with the income from her knitting. Flora is a master in knitting hats, scarves & sweaters. She learned to knit from her mom at early age. At 10 years old, she was already knitting sweaters to be sold at the market. At 25 years old she moved to Arequipa and continuing with her knitting. “My dream is to have my own workshop and teach other woman to knit so they can support themselves”

 

 


ROSA

Born in Puno. 30 years ago she moved to Arequipa and specializes in crocheted hats & chullos. She also support her family with her knitting.

 

SATURNINOS

Born in Ayacucho. His parents taught him to weave
tapestries using the old Inca technique. Saturnino
weaves tapestries  to make our famous tote bags
